I hold my Monday clinic at Canary Wharf Outpatients, HCA Healthcare UK’s outpatient centre at 40 Bank Street. It is part of the London Bridge Hospital network, which means the assessment can happen close to where you work or live in east London, while any surgery takes place at London Bridge Hospital — three stops away on the Jubilee line.
If you work in Canary Wharf or the surrounding offices, a Monday appointment here means a specialist consultation without losing a day to travel, and the clinic is equally easy to reach from east and south-east London on the Jubilee and Elizabeth lines. It covers exactly the same range of problems as my Friday clinic at The Shard, and the same pricing applies.
What do you see at the Canary Wharf clinic?
Andrology and reconstructive urology make up most of my practice here, alongside general urology. Common reasons for an appointment include:
- Fertility problems, an abnormal semen analysis or no sperm in the ejaculate
- Wanting children after a vasectomy — vasectomy reversal or sperm retrieval for IVF
- Low testosterone, and men already on testosterone who now want to start a family
- Erectile dysfunction and Peyronie’s disease (curvature of the penis)
- A weak or spraying urine stream from a urethral stricture
- Erection or continence problems after prostate cancer treatment
- A varicocele, testicular pain, or a tight or scarred foreskin
Every first appointment is a full specialist assessment rather than a quick triage: history, examination where appropriate, a review of anything you bring with you, and a written plan.
What tests can be done at Canary Wharf?
Canary Wharf Outpatients offers appointments that can include scans, biopsies, consultations and results in one place, and the whole centre is on a single floor. Blood tests — including the hormone profile that is part of every fertility and testosterone assessment — can be taken during your visit.
In the same building, the Lister Fertility Clinic at Canary Wharf Outpatients is one of HCA Healthcare UK’s semen analysis sites. That can make it convenient to combine a semen test with your appointment, although the right laboratory depends on the test needed — a routine analysis, a post-vasectomy check and a test for sperm DNA damage are not the same — so my team will advise you where to go. If you need a test that is not available at Canary Wharf, it is arranged at The Shard or London Bridge Hospital instead.
Where would my operation take place?
Operations for my private patients are carried out at London Bridge Hospital, 27 Tooley Street, London SE1 2PR, part of HCA Healthcare UK’s London Bridge Hospital campus. It has private en-suite rooms, a JAG-accredited endoscopy unit and a robotic theatre, and it is where I perform microsurgery for male infertility, reconstructive surgery and penile implant surgery. Fertility procedures such as microTESE are planned with embryology support in place, because sperm found in theatre has to be processed and frozen straight away.
If you are recommended surgery, you will receive a written quotation that sets out the surgeon’s fee, the anaesthetist’s fee and the hospital charges separately before anything is booked. Insured patients are given the procedure code they need to obtain authorisation.
London Bridge is three stops from Canary Wharf on the Jubilee line, so it is a short journey on the day of surgery and for any follow-up.
How do I get to 40 Bank Street?
The address is Canary Wharf Outpatients, 40 Bank Street, Canary Wharf, London E14 5NR.
- Jubilee line: leave Canary Wharf station and follow the signs for Bank Street — about a five-minute walk.
- Elizabeth line: leave Canary Wharf Elizabeth line station and walk through the Canary Wharf shopping malls towards Jubilee Park and Bank Street — about eight minutes.
- By bus: routes D3, D7, D8, 135 and 277 stop near Canary Wharf station.
- By taxi: taxis can drop you directly outside 40 Bank Street.
Is there parking at Canary Wharf Outpatients?
There is no on-site parking at 40 Bank Street. The nearest public car parks are Canary Wharf Car Park at Jubilee Place, entered from Montgomery Street (about five minutes’ walk), and Canada Square Car Park, entered from Park Place (about six minutes). There is a small amount of pay-and-display parking on the street.
Is the clinic accessible?
Yes. The main entrance is suitable for step-free access, taxis can stop right outside, and the outpatient centre is entirely on one floor. If you would like your partner or someone else with you in the consultation, let my PA know when you book.
How do I book an appointment?
All appointments are arranged by my PA, Jeanette Bush, on 07889 318584 or by email at Jeanette.Bush@HCAHealthcare.co.uk. The office is staffed Monday to Friday, 09:00–16:00, and you can also send an enquiry online at any time. When you get in touch it helps to say briefly what the problem is, whether you have had any tests already, and whether you are paying for yourself or using insurance — that lets us book the right length of appointment at the right clinic.
If you are paying for yourself, you do not need a GP referral. An in-person initial consultation is £350, a video or telephone initial consultation £300 and a follow-up £250; investigations are charged separately by the hospital and you are told the cost before anything is arranged. If you are using private medical insurance, most insurers will want a referral letter and a pre-authorisation code before the first visit. All the details are on the fees and insurance page.
Consultations can be held in English, Hindi, Punjabi or Urdu.
Other ways to see me
On Fridays I hold a clinic at The Shard Outpatients, next to London Bridge station, which has a full imaging department on site and is easier to reach by mainline train from Kent, Sussex and Surrey. Video and telephone consultations are available for initial discussions, second opinions and reviewing results.
